The One Health concept recognizes that the health of humans, animals and the environment are interlinked, and that maintaining optimal health for all is dependent on a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach across local, national and global circles. This book provides information and guidance for veterinary nurses in understanding both the scope of this concept and their role within it.
Beginning with an overview of the global issues faced, One Health For Veterinary Nurses And Technicians then focuses on providing an insight into how one health practices can be applied within a local community. Translating this important concept and making it relevant for veterinary nurses and their clients, this book:
- Covers both communicable and non-communicable disease, as well as public health, climate change and sustainability issues, and the human-animal bond;
- Includes case studies per chapter which help to translate theory into practical advice;
- Provides questions to help promote discussion and implement change.

This resulted in her having had the privilege of working with human patients as well as veterinary patients and clients, developing a keen interest in the concept of 'One Health' and its relevance to veterinary nurses. Andrea has spent a large part of her career within veterinary nurse education and has over time ensured that students have a holistic approach to the care that they deliver to their patients. Andrea is currently the Chief Nursing Officer of a major veterinary employer group and the scope of this role also takes into account the many facets of 'One Health'.
